The Cornett Ranch
Welcome to the Cornett Ranch & Stables, established in 1982 by Jack and Joyce Cornett and family. It is situated along two and a half miles of the Ellijay River, just a five minute drive north of the City of Ellijay's downtown square on Old State Route 5. The ranch lies in the heart of Gilmer County, which is a part of the Chattahoochee National Forest in the breath-taking mountains of North Georgia. The Chattahoochee National Forest and Wildlife Preserve offers miles of trails suitable for horseback riding and surrounds the ranch, for it comprises 80% of the area of Gilmer County.
The Cornett Ranch is located five minutes off of the Appalachian Highway 515, 65 miles north of Atlanta, and 27 miles from where Georgia meets Tennessee and North Carolina.
We have 200 acres of river bottoms and hills for your horse-riding pleasure. Our riding facilities are the finest you will find in North Georgia and include an Olympic-size covered riding arena (210' x 70'); an oval jumping arena (300' x 150'); a 45' covered round pen; and 60 acres of hay fields along the Ellijay River.
The Cornett Ranch and Stables offers stall or paddock boarding with daily turn out, riding lessons, horse training, and a schedule of special clinics for the serious horse enthusiast. We are serious about the management of our horses, with over 25 years of hands-on experience of managing up to 125 horses at a time. Our feeding program is second to none, and we don't have the typical problems that many boarding facilities have with colic, worm infestation, or foot problems because of our expert care and management. We have a great team of veterinarians and farriers on call that we have worked with since we started owning horses here in Georgia. We invite you to come by and tour our horse facilities and experience the peaceful and beautiful paradise that we call home.
We also offer local meat by the pound through our buyer's club!
